Country 21/196: Turkey. A nation spanning two continents, with few others on earth being able to lay claim to as much history as theirs. The city of Istanbul, in particular, has been captured and ruled by more civilizations than maybe any other on earth – which has left its mark in terms of architecture, culture and religion. Although, with Erdoğan at the helm, the country is in danger of forgetting its once progressive ways. With time at a premium, our visit was a short one – as we drove the width of the country in less time than it takes a Turkish salesman to con a tourist.
