Country 52/196: Spain. A nation I had been taken to many times as a child – fortunately, not in the Liam Neeson way – I was curious to see if road tripping through its mountainous north and tropical south would reawaken any childhood memories. Despite monsoon-like rains disrupting trips to Granada and Barcelona, the country provided a plethora of reminiscence as platters of tapas and remote church visits took me right back to the days of Nickelback and Tamagotchis. N.B. To avoid bone-crushing disappointment, book Alhambra tickets several decades in advance.
