Country 92/196: Saint Lucia. A mountainous island best known for the Pitons, two striking volcanic peaks rising dramatically from lush, forested hills. If in the mood for some exercise, or some tarantula spotting, hiking to their peaks offers one of the most spectacular views in the Caribbean. The capital, Castries, features busy streets, markets, and vibrant local life, though time may be better spent outside the city. Traditional Saint Lucian saltfish and locally brewed Piton lager provide refreshing comfort, especially after a strenuous climb or a successful mountaintop proposal. With humidity often the highest in the region, ensure you take a fan.
