Country 53/196: Portugal. The perfect winter escape from the glum North, Portugal is ideal for those looking for a sprinkling of sunshine during December or a snifter of port in March. The vibrant cities of Lisbon and Porto are excellent destinations for a long weekend whilst the beaches in the south are a paradise for both vegan surfers and sunburnt, Brexit-voting gammons alike. Be sure to watch a performance of traditional Fado music in a smoky dungeon if you get the chance.
