Bucket List 196: Norway!
The Road Travelled · Tales From Norway · Photos
Country 82/196: Norway. Where to begin? Norway offers a relentless parade of natural wonders, from the architectural beauty of Ålesund to the rugged cliffs of Nordkapp, where the Arctic Ocean stretches endlessly into the distance. Fjords carve through the landscape with breathtaking precision, while mountains rise dramatically, often draped in mist. The Lofoten Islands showcase a mix of wild beauty and quaint fishing villages, and Tromsø combines modernity with Arctic history in a way few places can match. Evenings bring the elusive promise of the Northern Lights, though their inevitable absence often adds a touch of irony to the journey. Ensure you pack a few crates for the journey as £10 cans of warm lager are the cheapest options in the far north.

November 26th, 2024 Our three-week Norwegian escapade began with high hopes and the kind of optimism that only comes from seeing a campsite as absurdly scenic as the one we’d found just south of Oslo. With flawless views of Oslofjord and its scattering of tiny islands, we almost decided to avoid the city altogether and unwind by the…
