If searching for Orthodox hilltop churches in pristine rolling hills is your thing or if you enjoy viewing monuments dedicated to famous farmers or notable librarians then North Macedonia should be top of your list. Things to note for your visit: never say ‘North’ Macedonia or risk your shoes being spat on and never repeat the fact that Alexander the Great was half-Greek. Avoid these traps and you too may be offered free bottles of Skopsko at the Old Town Brewery in the bustling Old Bazaar district of Skopje.
