Country 67/196: Kosovo. Undoubtedly, Europe’s most controversial nation, through no fault of her own, Kosovo has long polarised opinion with absolutely no sign of any contention slowing down. Despite the odd flare-up along their shared border with Serbia, the embryonic nation is equally as safe to visit as any other Balkan country and locals are very encouraging of those that do so. Take in pretty Prizren as well as the copious Brutalist buildings in the capital that sit alongside modern skyscrapers and other signs of a nation newborn. Is the National Library of Kosovo uglier than Newport train station? You decide.
