Bucket List 196: Estonia!
The Road Travelled · Tales From Estonia · Photos
Country 84/196: Estonia. A hidden gem in the Baltic that offers a unique mix of medieval charm and modern innovation. From the cobbled streets of Tallinn’s UNESCO-listed Old Town to the peaceful, forested expanses of the countryside, the country is full of contrasts. Visit the imposing Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Tallinn, explore Tartu’s academic history, or enjoy the tranquillity of Lake Peipus. Estonia is also home to impressive architecture, like the neoclassical University of Tartu and the picturesque ruins of Viljandi Castle. If arriving from Scandinavia, although Estonians claim they are Scandinavian, savour the radically cheaper beer prices, especially satisfying in quirky Telliskivi, Tallinn’s former industrial district turned hipster haven.
