Country 40/196: Côte d’Ivoire. More developed than its western and northern counterparts, Côte d’Ivoire is one of the fastest growing economies in the world (top five GDP growth in both 2018 and 2019). Tourism is playing an increasingly important role in the development of a nation still in recovery from two brutal civil wars since the turn of the new millennium. The historic coastal town of Grand-Bassam is a must visit, as is the quite staggering basilica in the planned capital of Yamoussoukro. Unlike anything else you will see in Western Africa, I promise you.
