My Adopted Charity
Whilst travelling, I am constantly reminded of how fortunate I am to be able to do so. Forget hitting the road, survival is the main goal for an inexcusably large number of people around the world. We’re all responsible for continuing to highlight what is happening in some of the darkest corners of the globe, especially those of us who are able to visit these places first hand. Don’t let revelations about charitable organisations cause you to stop giving generously to those that are doing a hell of a lot of good in the world. Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is one such charity. I have witnessed first hand what the people who work for them do on the front line and it is simply awe-inspiring. On October 27th, 2019, I participated in the Accra International Marathon in Ghana in aid of MSF. With about six training runs under my belt, and none in the scorching heat of Sub-Saharan Africa, it was a challenge too far for me as I was pulled aside at the halfway mark when I began to sway. Despite not completing the full distance I am contented with my Ghanaian half and raised almost £400 for MSF in the process. I have decided to keep my JustGiving page active and anything you could give would be greatly appreciated by myself and, more importantly, Médecins Sans Frontières. At least 89% of all donations go directly toward the delivery of essential medical aid to people who find themselves on the frontline, no matter how difficult it is to get there. Thank you so much. Jack
