Country 47/196: Mali. A nation with a rich history, full of historically significant sites and remarkable mudbrick architecture. Therefore, no Sankore University in Timbuktu, no Tomb of Askia in Gao and no Great Mosque of Djenné for me. It does give me a fantastic reason to return, though, hopefully with UNESCO sites open and locals feeling safe again once more.
