Country 20/196: Georgia. Upon our bedraggled arrival in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, we found a surprisingly charming city that would not look out of place anywhere in Europe (given the amount of E.U flags proudly hung around the country, that’s what they would like to achieve). Stalin’s hometown of Gori, in complete contrast, was akin to stepping back to the Soviet era, not surprising given that is was bombed by Russia as recently as 2008. Putin that unfortunate incident aside, the rapid transformation currently taking place in the country is one to be admired.
