Country 46/196: Burkina Faso. At the time of writing, and visiting, Burkina was not the safest nation on earth for foreign backpackers like I. National parks are closed, towns and villages off limits and World Heritage sites unreachable; with the threat of bombings and kidnappings restricting visitors to the fantastically named capital of Ouagadougou or Burkina’s second city: Bobo-Dioulasso. I tried to make the most of my time in Ouaga, but I must reserve judgement on the country as a whole until I can return at a more stable juncture.
